The single most important consideration in the purchase of any truck scale is the structural integrity of the scale weighbridge.  While many truck scales may appear to be similar in design some very critical differences do exist between different manufacturers.  A truck scale is essentially a bridge, and this bridge must be designed to withstand a multitude of axle configurations, dynamic loading conditions, and concentrated loads at mid-span.  The Survivor® series truck scales are the strongest and this is why.  The manufacturer carefully chooses the right structural shapes and uses only first quality steel components, carefully selected to optimize bending stresses and minimize deflection of steel members under maximum mid-span loading.

The Survivor® series steel deck truck scale design utilizes an open bottom design similar to bridges on our interstate highway system.  The open bottom design has many advantages over closed bottom bridges that can deteriorate over time due to internal condensation and corrosion within the sealed bridge cavity.  An enclosed bottom truck scale design also normally utilizes less expensive lighter weight steel components that cannot withstand the heavier trucks and axles that will generally result in a shorter overall life span of the bridge.  This is why it is not uncommon to see truck scales in need of replacement after only a few short years of use.  Weigh-Tec offers a complete line of NTEP turn-key truck scale applications and can be designed to accommodate your requirements.
